Italian internet gambling weaker in April

Italian online gambling observers have noted from the latest AAMS statistics that the action in April slowed compared with the previous month, although the numbers look better than the same time in 2011.

Gross gaming revenue increased 16.4 percent year-on-year to Euro 67.7 million, thanks principally to solid results in the online casino and poker sector. But compared with March 2012, revenues declined almost 8 percent, indicating a weaker market.

Fixed odds sports betting was again down at Euro 18.1 million, this time by 29.1 percent viewed against the 2011 stats, whilst horseracing numbers slipped compared with last year, down to Euro 930,000.
