Macau lowest growth rate in three years

News on 1 Aug 2012

Despite a marked slow down, Macau delivered a 1.5 percent rise in gambling revenue during July, its lowest since 2009, despite analysts predictions of a flat or negative growth.

July gambling revenue was reported as 24.58 billion patacas, up from 23.3 billion patacas year-on-year.  Performance was affected by a reduction in visitors following a tropical storm and tight economic conditions experienced by Chinese mainland visitors.
