Malaysian police to propose amendments to law

Malaysian Police Authorities reportedly expect to submit a proposal to Government that would amend existing law in order to address illegal gambling.

The New Straits Times (NST) report the content of the proposal would cover provisions for online gaming and allow for stricter actions against illegal gaming outlets.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told NST that discussions regarding the content of the proposal include input from the Criminal Investigation Department’s Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7).

Other considerations include prosecuting landlords who rent out their space to illegal gambling operations and the provision of improved tools to assist in the eradication of illegal gambling syndicates.
