Microgaming introduces table games developer Switch Studios

News on 15 Nov 2018

Microgaming is set to shake up the table games vertical with Switch Studios, a new independent game studio that will develop content exclusively for the Isle of Man-based online gaming supplier.

Based in Ipswich, UK, the expertise of the close-knit group of online gambling and social gaming experts will be aimed at creating a new generation of table games for Microgaming operators, with customisable components that deliver tailor-made experiences for a new level of play.

Their first creation as a team, Roulette, is a new take on the classic table game. Featuring a realistic 3D roulette wheel with lifelike ball behaviours, Roulette is based on a brand-new game engine and supports racetrack betting, favourites and special bets. It is specifically optimised for mobile and can be played in portrait and landscape modes, allowing players to switch dynamically for an immersive casino experience at the palm of their hands.

Microgaming’s introduction of Switch Studios signifies the beginning of a new wave of table games content from the supplier, the Isle of Man company revealed in a statement Thursday.

Switch Studios forms part of Microgaming’s studio strategy, which aims to disrupt the market with targeted content, and plans to collaborate closely with operators to craft bespoke games to suit the needs of their player bases.

Roulette is the first of a full suite of exclusive table games developed by Switch Studios to be launched by Microgaming, with complementing content, including Blackjack, to be revealed in the coming months.

John Coleman, Microgaming CEO, comments: “Bringing Switch Studios into the fold ensures we have a dedicated resource for innovating and enhancing our table games offering. The team have already demonstrated a facility for producing stylish and sophisticated casino games that are highly original and entertaining, and I am looking forward to developing this side of our range even further in the coming months.”

Tom David, head of studio at Switch Studios, adds: “We believe our background in the mobile, social and eGaming sectors puts us in an excellent position to bring innovation and style to the online table gaming sector. Our objective is to deliver the best selection of classic table games that players enjoy.”
