NetEnt’s Planet of the Apes near launch

News on 7 Sep 2017

Back in February this year online gambling games developer NetEnt revealed that it had signed a licensing deal with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products to exclusively develop games based on the Planet of the Apes film franchise.

The partnership covers the entire Planet of the Apes brand – which has a rich heritage spanning more than 50 years – and will see the multi-media brand used for the first time in online casino gaming.

The simian franchise originates from the 1963 novel La Planète des Singes. In 1968 the first movie based on the book premiered, and spawned the popular series. The most recent releases – Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) – have both been critical and commercial successes.

The game is reportedly both complex and entertaining, with two sets of 5 reels and 20 pay-lines each mounted in tandem to present a 10 reel, 40 pay-line game themed on the series, liberally backed by clips from the film and dynamic animation and sound effects.

The claimed RTP is reportedly 96.33 percent.

One of the engaging features in the game is the dual feature, but there are also re-spins, free spins, multipliers, scatters, wilds and bonus rounds to keep players entertained.

The game features the Rise and Dawn play areas, each with 5-reels, 3-rows, and 20-lines (fixed), the Rise and Dawn Free Spins, Bonus symbols, Scatter symbols, Wild substitutions, a Stacked Wild feature, a Dual feature and the Rise and Dawn Bonus features.

Across its dual reels, Planet of the Apes combines elements from the two movies with the excitement of slot game play.
