New problem gambler requirements in New Jersey

News on 27 Aug 2013

Three additional anti-problem gambling regulations were added to New Jersey’s list of stiff online gambling operator requirements late last week.

The additions all concern account limits and require operators to:

* Impose player-decided caps on the amount of money deposited in an account. The limit is flexible insofar as it can be based on daily, monthly or weekly deposits.

* Wagering limits, again decided by the player, must be respected.

* Time limits, which will run from the time the player logged in to the expiry of the time limit or the player’s decision to log out. Again there is some flexibility in that the regulation makes clear that in the event of a time limit expiring during “…any round of play, or active or prepaid tournament” the punter will be permitted to complete that passage of play.
