No more gambling advert appearances by Liverpool FC manager

Jurgen Klopp, the charismatic Liverpool Football Club manager who has been appearing in television adverts for BetVictor will cease to do so next season following concerns expressed by the Football Association that Klopp could be perceived as giving gambling advice.

The Echo newspaper reported that FA rules ban anyone involved in Premier League football, and in lower leagues, from betting on any games worldwide and from passing on inside information used for betting.

After a meeting of FA officials, the club and the betting company, it was agreed that there will not be a new advert featuring Klopp or any of his players.

BetVictor is the club’s global online betting partner and training kit partner. The partnership has another two years to run and remains unaffected, it is understood.
