Swedish parliament says no to aggressive gambling advertising

News on 6 Feb 2019

According to a media report on Swedish TV broadcaster SVT Tuesday, Minister of Public Administration Ardalan Shekarabi has called in stakeholders to discuss the newly re-regulated gambling market’s “aggressive and unrestrained advertising”.

“If the industry is unable to take responsibility and observe moderation in advertising for gambling, then I will not hesitate to progress with harsher, mandatory measures,” Shekarabi said in an interview with SVT.

Sweden’s online gambling authority has already taken licensees to task on their failure to integrate satisfactorily with the National self-exclusion register SpelPaus (see previous reports).
