Online gambling operator thumbs nose at Aussie authorities

News on 7 Jul 2017

The recent Australian federal government bans on online poker and casino gambling have resulted in many international operators quitting the Downunder market, but have apparently encouraged at least one operator to take on the risky job of filling the vacuum.

Costa Rica based Ignition online casino and poker has made no secret of its intention to offer Aussie punters both casino and poker gaming, achieving wide online publicity for its daring decision.

The Ignition group includes the Bovada enterprise, acquired late last year (see previous reports) and has boasted that its drive in Australia will include shared player liquidity with its other international activities…including the equally dangerous US market.

The operator’s use of both fiat and cyber currencies, along with an anonymous recreational player business model, may mitigate the risk of defying Australian federal law, and progress will be watched with interest.
