PMU partners with Spanish horserace track

News on 20 Feb 2013

The second biggest horserace course in Spain Hipódromo de San Sebastián will offer online betting as a result of a partnership agreement between Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) and la sociedad Hipódromos y Apuestas de Euskadi (HAHE), an association PMU has worked closely with over the past seven years.

PMU also reached a partnership agreement with HAHE-owned Apuesta Ganador Online, s.a. (AGOSA) for online horseracing totalisator betting in Spain. AGOSA has reportedly submitted a horse racing totalisator betting license application to the Spanish gambling authority (DGOJ).

“This agreement is a confirmation of our fruitful collaboration with HAHE and our experience in the French market combining online and offline betting encourages us to confidently launch this project,” said a PMU spokesperson.

Miguel Ortiz-Cañavate, group president and majority shareholder Nervión HAHE and AGOSA said: “Since we took over the Hipódromo de San Sebastián, with 96 years of history in the equestrian world, PMU has been our management benchmark in racing and betting; closer relations with PMU will enable us to learn from their experience in developing on and off-line equestrian betting in Spain.  It is a motivator for the group and will undoubtedly prove very beneficial to the industry in Spain”.
