South African casino group granted leave to appeal

News on 3 Sep 2010

Casino Enterprises, the holding company for the Piggs Peak online casino, has been granted leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeals in Bloemfontein, the judicial capital of South Africa.
The Swaziland-based online gambling company is contesting the recent North Gauteng High court decision that its operations in South Africa constitute illegal gambling, based on a judgement of where the gambling transaction actually takes place in internet gambling.
Piggs Peak has suspended SA operations pending the outcome of its appeal, the latest in a long-running legal battle with the SA Gambling Board.
