Spain – no licenses until mid-june

News on 3 Apr 2012

The director general of the Spanish online gambling regulator, Enrique Alejo, reportedly told a Spanish gaming conference last week that processing the 59 applications for licenses for the Spanish market will take more time than anticipated….perhaps until mid-June this year….due to rigorous requirements the regulators are tasked with enforcing.

The Spanish authorities have already taken this into account, recently extending the May 30 implementation deadline by a month .

Most of Europe’s major gambling groups have applied for licensing.

In related news, Jdigital – the replacement for Spanish trade association AEDAPI – successfully held its inaugural meeting last week.
