Svenska Spel partners with national stadium

News on 22 Oct 2012

Swedish state-controlled gaming operator Svenska Spel has been named the official partner to the newly built National stadium called the Friends Arena.

The agreement, which runs until the end of next year, is the second similar sponsorship undertaken by the Company following its partnership with the Råsunda Football Stadium.

“We are sure that many great sporting moments will play out in Sweden’s new national stadium and obviously we want to be there when sporting history is written”, said Johan Lindvall, brand manager at Svenska Spel.

A smart move on Svenska Spel’s part as a multitude of major sporting events have already been scheduled to play out in the arena.  These include World Cup qualifying matches and the Women’s European Championship finals in football.

“We want to get as close to the audience as possible and through the stadium’s integrated technology, we can provide our customers with a new gaming experience based on the amazing digital possibilities Friends Arena offers today”, added Lindvall.

The newly-built arena is owned by the Swedish Football Association and is the largest stadium in the Nordic region and the second largest indoor stadium in Europe.  It will open for business towards the end of this month and features the latest communication technology with the capacity to accommodate 65 000 guests in a concert setup and 50 100 for sporting events.
