Malaysian police in the Kulim and Sungai Petani districts have reported the detention of 44 individuals and the seizure of 100 laptops and PCs along with other evidence of online gambling in a series of raids on 17 different premises earlier this week.

The police action was spearheaded by the Special Task Force for Anti-Vice, Gaming and Gangsterism.

The raids were part of the ongoing Operation Dadu targeting illegal online gambling venues, a police spokesman said, revealing that 144 people had originally been arrested but only 44 detained.
