German state ordered to halt sports betting

The German regulatory saga continues with the German Administrative Court ordering the State of Hesse to cease offering temporary sports betting permissions immediately. The order follows a long-running and confusing regulatory mess of unwarranted restrictions, court rulings and European Commission clashes (see previous reports).

The Administrative Court reportedly suspended Hesse’s temporary sports betting permissions process until the country’s High Court rules on the matter.
