Philippines regulator to licence sports betting operators

News on 10 May 2017

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced a new category of offshore licensing which covers online sports betting operators on “regulated wagering events” – including those regulated by foreign authorities.

The licence covers betting activity across horse and dog racing, although it is not confined solely to those event types, and allows operators to provide both visual and audio live feeds to punters.

Inevitably, the licence is conditional on holders paying fees and taxes to the requisite sports governing bodies and rights holders, who must certify the operator’s status before a Philippines licence is issued.

Philippines holders of the special licenses will have to cough up a monthly 1.5 percent of GGR to PAGCOR, along with other fees normally associated with Philippines Offshore Gaming Operator licensing.
