Reality television could provide a big boost for Asian eSports

The South East Asia eSports industry could receive a significant boost in publicity once the plans of Australian and Asian reality television producers are realised, according to eSports reports from the region.

The reports suggest that reality TV companies like Spout Entertainment and Aurora Media Holdings are planning a new multi-series competitive eSports show tentatively titled Game to Fame which will at first feature the FIFA football game, but will subsequently embrace Dota 2, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The companies concerned can boast of audience figures in the tens of millions, ensuring wide coverage for eSports in general and the teams in particular.

On a somewhat smaller scale, an eSports show titled The Next Gamer is in planning for distribution and broadcast via YouTube. This seems to be focused on a competition to deliver the best eSports player, and the winner will receive a A$10,000 prize and a six-month contract to play with a top eSports team.
