The Klondike goldrush began in 1897 when two ships docked in San Francisco and Seattle carrying miners returning from the Yukon with bags of Gold. The press was alerted and papers carried the story to the masses, who in turn rushed to the Yukon to change their stars and find their fortunes in Yukon Gold.
Now you too can experience the excitement and exhilaration of the Wild West at Yukon Gold Casino. Powered by Microgaming and part of the Casino Rewards group who bring you casinos like Aztec Riches, Phoenician casino and Blackjack Ballroom to name a few, Yukon Gold Casino is the latest addition to this brand portfolio and if the other casinos are anything to go by, promises to deliver quality gaming and themed fun.
The casino page is appropriately themed complete with horses silhouetted by the sunset and is sure to delight all Western Movie enthusiasts. It kinda brings out the cowboy/girl in you and you have the sudden urge to shout Yeeeeaaaahhhaaaa!
Having not played at this casino before, I decided to spend some time looking around the site before starting to play and noticed that Yukon Gold Casino is a member of the Interactive Gaming Council which ensures that this is a safe place to play and also found out that the casino is reviewed by Independent auditors which served to put my mind at ease being a first time visitor. My eye then caught the promotional page and I decided to check out what was on offer.
Any information on promotional offers is current at the time of writing and may be out of date. More current bonus information can be found in the bonus area on this page.Yukon Gold Casino players are eligible for competition draws from time to time. They also offer a “Refer a friend” bonus where by you can earn 2,500 VIP point (worth $25) per friend that joins the casino when sent a promotional e-mail.
A little disappointed that these were the only promotional offers available at the moment, I moved on to see if better ones possibly existed within the Casino Rewards Loyalty Program.
Like most Microgaming casinos, Yukon Gold Casino’s loyalty program is based on earning loyalty points from play and promotions which can then be redeemed for casino cash. You gain automatic entry to this program from the minute you start playing and will be sent an e-mail with a link to setup a password for you account so that you can login to check your points etc.
As part of the Casino Rewards group, Yukon Gold Casino players will be able to combine VIP points from any casino that is a member of the Casino Rewards program. You can also redeem your points at any Casino Rewards member site. Simply join the member site and when you redeem your points specify which site you want them to go to, which in opinion is very well thought out.
After scanning through the rest of the site, I decided it was time to test this casino.
As with all casinos within the Casino Rewards group, Yukon Gold Casino offers both a Flash and Download version of its casino. I always go with the download to get the full version of the casino and found that downloading and installing the software which is 322K in size, was really simple, with the website providing clear instructions on how to get up and running. While the initial download size is quite small, it is important to note that additional files are downloaded in the background and will take up more disk space.
As I have come to expect from casinos powered by Microgaming the whole set up process went very smoothly and once I had registered my information to sign up for an account, I was ready to get started and headed off to make my very first deposit at the Yukon Gold Casino cashier.
The banking system at Yukon Gold Casino is straight forward and simple to use. While I chose to set up an account in US$, you can also choose to play in Euros, UK Pounds and Canadian Dollars.
Deposit options available at Yukon Gold Casino include Credit Card, Debit Card, E-Check, Neteller, Click2Pay, FirePay, Electronic Check by Citadel, PaySpark, UseMyBank, MoneyBookers, ECO Card, and Wire Transfer.
I elected to deposit $50 via Neteller and then headed off to check out what games were on offer at this casino.
Yukon Gold casino offers over 209 games with new games being added on a monthly basis to ensure that players never get bored. The games lobby is set out according to game genre making it a little easier to find the type of game you are looking for and with selection like this I’m sure you will.
I decided to start my play in true Wild West style with the card games and found my way to the Blackjack Tables first. The table minimum was $2 but if you’re looking for more action you can bet up to $2000 on a single hand at some. As I wasn’t part of the Gold Rush just yet, I decided to keep my bets to a minimum (bearing in mind that I had to place a minimum of 10 before being eligible for the bonus). Playing it safe paid off and I came out of the game even so still had money to burn at the other tables.
I then moved along to the Poker Tables but after a few hands realize that I’m just not a great poker player (need more practice on the free games for now) so I headed to the Video Poker machines which have help and AutoPlay features, so I can just sit back and have fun! The Video Poker selection at Yukon Gold Casino is quite vast and offers everything from single hand to 50 and 100 hand games! Betting limits are pretty flexible compared to most casinos and you can bet up to $125 on a single hand…which mean that a Royal Flush pays up to $100,000 in prize money which is amazing if you win but pretty expensive if you don’t! After playing Aces and Faces and Jacks or Better I had $150 in my account and decided to head off to the Slots.
Yukon Gold Casino has a multitude of slots available from traditional 3-reels, one line slots to multi-line Video slots with free spin and bonus features. Being a fan of the Video Slots I decided to try a few that I hadn’t played at Microgaming Casinos before and sticking with the Yukon Gold Casino theme played Gopher Gold and Cashville. I them moved on to one of my favorites, Loaded and was forced to finish off with the new Age of Discovery Slot when my balance ran out…time to claim that cash back!
After jumping through the hoops to do that (which took about an hour and a half in total) my account was reloaded and I decided to end off my game play with a few spins of the Roulette wheel and guess what? I won $500!
Very pleased with myself I fought the urge to put it all back I decided to cashin my winnings and headed off to the cashier. Within 48 hours and with no problems whatsoever, my winnings were funded to my Neteller account. Very pleased with my experience thus far, I decided to test Customer support at the casino.
While I had no need of customer support during my first experience at Yukon Gold Casino, for the purpose of this review I decided to test their service with an e-mail. Other available contact options are toll free telephone numbers and Live Chat which are available 24/7.
Despite offering these options, support was not very responsive and I found that my mail took quite a while to get a response. I decided to check out Live chat and that wasn’t available until the next time I logged in. But there are toll free numbers for 5 countries which you can use, and these are sure to get a response…so not all bad!
All in all, Yukon Gold Casino is themed fun for everyone and will definitely transport you into the wild times of the Gold Rush and maybe even help you to strike it rich!
Being backed by a well known group like Casino Rewards and powered by Microgaming you are assured of quality game play and good benefits.
On the downside, customer support is not the most responsive I’ve ever come across and this casino group is known for being sensitive about those claiming too many bonuses which is quite bizarre. But if you can get over these points, it’s a good place to play and I’d still recommend it if you’re into great games and a good player experience.
