Spain appoints new online gambling regulatory chief

Former Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) deputy director Carlos Hernández Riera has been appointed to the top post of Director General at the Spanish online gambling regulator, a promotion from within the organisation that ensures continuity.

The organisation has been managed by three deputy directors since the former chief, Enrique Alejo, resigned in April after just 16 months in the hot seat .

Riera was formerly deputy director responsible for general gambling regulation at the DGOJ.
